Answer 1

Senior Project 2-Hour House Meeting #1
Content:
(1)   In order to become a successful dance/movement therapist one must be able to know their patients pain; they should have broad knowledge of their disease or disability.

(2) What possible evidence do you have to support this answer?
  • The dance/movement therapist has to walk in and do an assesment to the cancer patients to see how they are feeling that day. She needs to know what pains they have and were in order to work arond them or towards helping them heal.(Dance Movement Therapy at Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA. #25 RC-AV)
  • By going to my service learning I've also learned that kids with different disorders tend to take more time or need more help while dancing or moving. Knowing which kids are disturbed by noice or deaf has really helped me know in which ways I can help them.

(3) What source(s) did you find this evidence and/or answer?

I used my research, like sited up above. Also my service learning experience.

Service Learning

  • I am working with Church Group of people who have learning difficulties. They have a program called Club Aspire. The're the people receive and hour and a half of Dance Therapy every Thursday.
  • My contact is Lynnette. She is the Dance Therapy instructor.

  • To complete the 10 hour requirement I've been attending this therapies for the last 3 months, give and take a couple of Tuesdays, and I help by going around and making sure every person is moving, reaching their potential. I have also helped them with their annual Holidays Dance Show. I worked with them for 5 hours and I was involved backstage making sure the kids where in the right place. Also, I participated in the actual show helping the kids that can't really move without assistance. Ultimately I've been working on teaching the kids a Hula routine. This will probably lead to the club having their own Fundraising Luau.

  • As of right now I've worked 21 and one half hours.
